HAEMUS Training – heritage branding and management of tourist destination

On 12-13.09.2019, the heritage branding and management of tourist destination training was conducted by Ms. Vasilka Dimitrovska, director of HAEMUS. The full two-day event was held in Strumica by Kult Tranzen NGO as a host and organizer within their project “Strumica as cultural-historical destination”.

The goal of this training was acquiring basic knowledge in the field of cultural tourism, with all of the advantages that this industry has to offer, especially in the segment of sustainable employment. A proper education ensures that the personal capacity of the participants in this special training is enhanced, and the final goal is to encourage them to take part and contribute to a sustainable local economic development of Strumica as a cultural/historical destination. The 2-day training included 4 modules distributed within two consecutive days:

Module 1: What is cultural tourism?
Module 2: Tourist destination management

The modules were followed by a workshop in groups, with exercises in creation of cultural tours and routes for Strumica.

Module 3: How to create and create a brand in the cultural tourism business
Module 4: Communication and marketing strategy in the tourist industry.

The modules were followed by workshop, with group exercise in cultural tourism communication and presentation. The event was finalized with an evaluation of the results accomplished by the training.

Тhe training was organized within the project “Strumica as a cultural and historical tourist destination”, funded by the European Union through the regional programme on local democracy in the Western Balkans (ReLOaD), implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
