SCUPINI ROMANI is a brand of HAEMUS a center for scientific research and the promotion of culture based in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. It consists of plenty portable exhibits (pottery, clothing, jewelry, knitted items, souvenirs) which are specially designed for this purpose and handmade by artists, artisans and craftsmen, inspired by the rich cultural heritage from the Roman period discovered in the Republic of Macedonia. The concept of SCUPINI ROMANI is variable depending on the circumstances and can be organized as an ambient setting, mobile exhibition or festival with live actors.

In an attempt to capture the reconstruction of people’s everyday life in ancient Rome, we are trying to visualize part of beliefs, traditions, fashion, food and crafts practiced in antiquity through craft workshops (pottery, jewelry, crochet, wickerwork craft, hairdressing and mosaic).

Our events are usually supplemented by public lectures from archaeologists who research Roman archaeology, poets who recite ancient Roman poetry etc. Also there is always possibility about children corner dedicated to the youngest, tasting of ancient Roman food, exhibition of costumes and clothes inspired by ancient Rome and many other things. The opportunity for buying domestic hand-made souvenirs based on the ancient Roman cultural heritage which derives from the territory of the Republic of Macedonia is also available to the visitors of every Scupini Romani event.

All event within the Scupini Romani brand are made under the slogan of UNESCO’s Open Educational Resources (OER).
