On September 16, 2023, HAEMUS in partnership with Storytelling Skopje and Europe House Skopje, hosted hosted the event ”Mythical Adventure – Skopje’s Forest Creatures and How to Find Them”, in celebration of European Heritage Days 2023, with this year’s theme being “Living Heritage.”

This interactive, gamified experience captivated children and youth, offering insights into traditional Macedonian mythology, customs, and beliefs. Participants embarked on a journey armed with a ‘Mythic Map’, a ‘Magical Handbook’ and a plethora of specially crafted cards, tokens, puzzles, and challenges. Their mission: piece together these elements like a puzzle to unveil the secrets behind magical storytelling.
Creator and host of this unusual adventure was archaeologist Vasilka Dimitrovska, M.Sci, Director of HAEMUS, heritage consultant, certified interpreter, national coordinator of Interpret Europe for Macedonia and founder of the “Young Explorer” and “Storytelling Skopje” interpretive programs.
