HAEMUS, in collaboration with Poetry Slam Macedonia, is launching a poetry slam video contest on the subject of “Shared Cultures, Shared Heritage, Shared Responsibility”.

The subject reflects the global context of the heritage as part of the cultural identity during the times of a rapid demographic change, conflict, and unstable environment. Sites, landscapes, cultural practices (customs) or collections (of artifacts and art) – the topic covers a diverse cultural heritage, as well as our collective responsibility to protect, present and pass on its significance and values to the following generations. Explore what cultural heritage inspires you, what is of particular importance to you personally or the place where you live, and share your poetry with the public by encouraging a discussion and dialogue.

All poets and slam poets are invited to submit their poetry in the form of a video material. If you choose to have your poem performed in your native language, please dub the video with an English translation. With each submission, you agree to have your material publicly posted as a video, as well as having it published in the form of an e-book as the official publication of HAEMUS.

Please, send your videos to one of the following email addresses: contact@haemus.org.mk and poetri.slam@yahoo by April 15, 2020 at the latest.

The event shall take place online. After being approved by an international jury set up by Poetry Slam Macedonia, the videos shall be uploaded to HAEMUS social networks on April 18, 2020 starting from 12 o’clock at noon and onwards.

The subject of the event is inspired by “Shared Cultures, Shared Heritage, Shared Responsibility” initiative, a comprehensive subject introduced by ICOMOS on the occasion of the “International Day for Monuments and Sites” celebrated on April 18 each year. ICOMOS’s main purpose is to raise awareness of the diversity of the world’s cultural heritage, its significance, and its protection.
