Learning heritage should never remain only inside textbooks and classrooms.
Sometimes the most meaningful lessons happen directly on the streets where history still lives.

Over the past period, students from NOVA International School Skopje had the opportunity to explore the Old Skopje Bazaar through an interactive educational experience focused on storytelling, heritage interpretation, and experiential learning.

Guided through the Bazaar’s historic streets, the students discovered traditional crafts, local stories, architecture, and cultural layers that continue to shape the identity of Skopje today. Through observation, discussion, and direct interaction with the space, the experience encouraged curiosity, active participation, and a deeper understanding of the city’s heritage.

As part of the visit, the students also explored the Museum of the Old Skopje Bazaar, where they connected objects, stories, and everyday life from the past with the living heritage that still exists within the Bazaar today.

At HAEMUS, we strongly believe that heritage is not something people simply observe — it is something they experience, question, and emotionally connect with.

Experiences like these help younger generations develop cultural awareness, empathy, and a stronger relationship with their local community and identity.

We would like to thank NOVA International School Skopje for the collaboration and trust.
