Between July 14 and 20, 2025, the spirit of the ancient world came alive once again at the archaeological site of Stobi. Under the guidance of Vasilka Dimitrovska, MSci from HAEMUS – archaeologist and certified heritage interpretive trainer, a series of creative workshops were conducted focusing on the reconstruction of Roman social games and weaponry.
The workshops formed part of the broader “Revived History” concept, an initiative aimed at breathing new life into past practices and building a bridge between science, education, and the wider public. The process actively involved archaeologist Ivan Ilić from Serbia, as well as Damjan Serafimovski from the Museum of the City of Skopje. Through this collaborative effort, Stobi was transformed into an open stage where history is not only studied, but experienced and felt.

Selected reconstructed elements will be incorporated into HAEMUS’ educational programs, bringing heritage closer to contemporary audiences through narrative interpretation, hands-on activities, and direct experiential learning.
The workshops attracted significant interest among young interpreters, institutional colleagues, visitors to the Stobi site, and particularly the Macedonian media.
As a follow-up to this event, a feature text was also published by the editorial board of Interpret Europe’s journal, further highlighting the importance and impact of the initiative within the wider European heritage interpretation community.
