Mentor: Vasilka Dimitrovska, Skopje, Macedonia & Mentee: Milica Popović, Kotor, Montenegro in Belgrade, Serbia

The final “Wrap-up” workshop in Belgrade marked the successful conclusion of the current Creative Mentorship for Young Professionals cycle organized by Creative Mentorship / Kreativno Mentorstvo, supported by the British Council Serbia through the Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans (CC4WBs) project, funded by the European Union. #CC4WBs aims to foster dialogue in the Western Balkans by enhancing the cultural and creative sectors for increased socio-economic impact. The event served as a collaborative space for more than 100 mentees and mentors to reflect on their shared journey, refine their professional presence, and prepare for continued growth within the regional creative community.

Mentorship Contribution: HAEMUS

As part of this cycle, Vasilka Dimitrovska, founder of HAEMUS, contributed as a mentor. This involvement is part of a broader regional effort to support emerging talent through the exchange of practical professional experience.

  • Developing Heritage Experiences: Dimitrovska served as a mentor to Milica Popović, providing guidance on the development of heritage-based projects in Montenegro.
  • Professional Voice: The mentorship focused on helping the mentee navigate the professional landscape and refine their approach to heritage interpretation and storytelling.

Key Takeaways from the Belgrade Workshop

A small token of appreciation for all participants in the Creative Mentorship Program.

The workshop provided a structured environment for participants to conclude their formal mentoring relationships and plan for future growth:

  • Strategic Sessions: Experts led discussions on Branding and Identity (Ana Mirković), Purposeful Networking (Relja Dereta), and Visibility (Adna Alihodžić), providing tools for professionals to better communicate their work within the region.
  • Advocating for Mentorship: Led by Dragana Jevtić, the “Pay It Forward” session encouraged participants to act as ambassadors for the mentorship process, sharing the insights and skills they gained with their own local communities.
  • Field Insights: The program included visits to the Magacin cultural space to discuss self-organized institutional models and a guided tour of the “Inventory” exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Belgrade.

Conclusion

The participation of mentors like Vasilka Dimitrovska highlights the importance of regional collaboration in the Western Balkans. By sharing established expertise with the next generation of creatives, the program helps strengthen the professional foundation of the region’s cultural and heritage sectors.
