Join us at the traditional event “Happy Grandma March 2018”, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, and Moldova through the display of handmade martinki. Organized by the Center for Scientific Research and Promotion of Culture “Haemus”, this event aims to promote the unique tradition of martinki and its significance as an intangible world cultural heritage.

Event Details:

  • Date & Time: February 26 to March 4, 2018.
  • Location: First floor of the “Ramstor Mall” shopping center in Skopje.

Explore a diverse collection of martinki from various countries, accompanied by educational panels and a sales gallery featuring handicrafts. Engage your children in creative workshops, fostering a deeper appreciation for cultural traditions. According to Vasilka Dimitrovska, director of “Haemus”, “Martinki are not just ornaments; they represent the cultural identity of the Macedonian people and serve as a common thread connecting the Balkans.” Ars Lamina, in collaboration with the event, presents children’s books about martinki in Macedonian, Albanian, and English. Branka Bugariska, director of publishing at Ars Lamina, emphasizes the importance of preserving traditions in a fun and educational manner. Inclusivity is at the heart of our event. Through our partnership with the “Edna moge” foundation, single parents will lead creative children’s workshops, ensuring everyone can participate in preserving our cultural heritage. We extend our gratitude to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia and the city of Skopje for their support. Together, let’s celebrate our cultural heritage and contribute to its preservation for generations to come. For more information, visit our website or follow us on social media.
